As blood is pumped around the body, it carries oxygen and nutrients that are essential for life. As a result of the pumping action of the heart and the size and flexibility of the arteries that carry blood, the blood is under pressure. This blood pressure is an essential and normal part of the way the body works. Your blood pressure rises and falls with each heartbeat, even normal blood pressure does it and these levels can change with everyday activity. Thus, measuring blood pressure is one way of assessing your risk of health problem. However, in some people and as we get older, the blood pressure tends to be rise.

If your blood pressure is extremely high, there may be certain hypertension symptoms to look out for, including :

  • Severe headache

  • Chest pain

  • Difficulty breathing

  • Vision problem

  • Blood in the urine

  • Fatigue or confusion

  • Irregular heartbeat

Untreated hypertension can lead to a serious complication of hypertension such as heart attack or stroke. Consequently, if you have any of the above hypertension symptoms, see a doctor immediately to get a treatment.
